When Life Hands You Lemons…

When Life gives you lemons

When life hands you lemons…

…make lemonade!

We’ve all heard the phrase, meant to encourage optimism and evoke a can-do attitude.  Well I’m here to tell you on this Thought Provoking Tuesday that when life hands you lemons its ok to sometimes throw them back!

(Besides we don’t always have water and sugar to make lemonade.)

It’s ok to take a stand and revolt against the bitterness and adversity that was dealt your way.  Show the lemons who’s boss!

The cliche has lost some of its luster over the years because of over use, and yet the sentiment is still a good one.  Viewing life in a more positive, intentional light will only bring peace, happiness and success your way.

I want to know what you do when life hands you lemons!  Do you make lemonade?  Do you throw them back?  Let me know in the comments below.

Thought Provoking Tuesday: Are You Making Good Impressions?

Good Impression

Today’s edition of Thought Provoking Tuesday is a great exercise to gauge how others perceive you.

While you may think you make great impressions, is that really the case?  We’ve all heard just how important that initial meeting and experience can be in business.  The truth is, impressions continue to made each time you “show up”, be that in-person, on the phone, in emails and now days, through social media.

So here is your TPT activity:  Ask a couple people to HONESTLY describe you in three words.  This request could be via email, in person or on the phone.  Although I would highly recommend it being face-to-face since you can actually feel what the person is saying as well as experience their genuine reaction to your question.

Take those answers and ask yourself, am I making good impressions?  Are there qualities you need to work on?  You will be very surprised at the lessons you can learn from this simple, yet effective exercise.

Let me know in the comments below what you think!

Thought Provoking Tuesday: How Do You Define Success?

Define Success

It’s that time of the week again when I ask you to contemplate a specific theme or idea related to your business.  In today’s Thought Provoking Tuesday I want you to focus on success.

How do you define success?

Chances are many of you are apt to throw out the standard response of, “When I make $XXX per year that will mean I’m successful.”

And while that may be one way to define success… success comes in many sizes, shapes and forms.  To start with, you have your personal successes and business related successes.

It’s easy to forget about our own personal growth when we’re so focused on building a business, and paying the bills.  I tell my clients, if you don’t intentionally focus on your own personal and professional growth, how in the world do you expect your business to grow?

Growth, like success, comes in direct proportion to the time, attention and intentional awareness you put on it.  You are in the driver seat of your success – never lose sight of this.

The beauty is that we have the opportunity to redefine what it means to discover and be successful in our lives.  So instead of thinking that you’re “always chasing success”, I want you to celebrate the little victories as well.  Often times its the little victories that turn into an awesome snowball of victories that roll us right into an avalanche of success.

Today for example I was extremely successful in the personal growth department, I woke up at 5am, headed to the gym and completed a beast of a workout.  Not bad to say I’ve already created success and it’s only 7am!

What successes have you realized today? Let me know in the comments below so we can share in your joy!

To Continued and Ever-Growing Success,

Thought Provoking Tuesday: What Does Your Future Look Like?

Your future and failure

In today’s TPT, Thought Provoking Tuesday, I want you to think about what you really want.

Not just in business and professionally speaking, really think about what you want in your entire life.

Some would call these your DREAMS or aspirations.  I want you to start referring to them as your GOALS instead.

Let’s take things a step further… ask yourself this question:

If I knew I couldn’t fail what would I do?

Does this question change your initial response about what you want in life?  I’m a firm believer that self-discovery and self-improvement is a catalyst for overall success.  And by inquiring about the future, you are showing a true commitment to yourself and your overall well-being.

Whenever doubt, fear or scarcity enters your mind – ask yourself “If I knew I couldn’t fail, what would I do?”  The goal is to find clarity in your answer and move forward as soon as possible.

Remember, you are capable of achieving more then you realize, and often more then you give yourself permission to believe you can.

Dream big.

Make plans.

Set goals.

Take action.

Now I want you to “ink it, not just think it.”  In the comments below tell us one thing you would do if you knew failure was not an option.

Thought Provoking Tuesday: Daily Motivation Exercise

TPT Morning Motivation

Wouldn’t it just be wonderful if we all woke up every single morning on the right side of the bed, ready to take the day head on?  Well that is 100% possible.  In today’s Thought Provoking Tuesday, TPT, I’m sharing some motivational wisdom.

Motivation needs to be cared for and nurtured… it takes hard work and dedication!  There are easy ways to help keep a steady flow of motivation running through your veins and it starts before your head hits the pillow each night.

Before you go to sleep each night, as my client’s can attest, I highly recommend thinking about and celebrating at least 3 things that you created or accomplished that day – big or small. (Yes for some of us it can be as small as walking around the neighborhood for 20 minutes)!

To really enforce this concept, journaling these celebrations on a daily basis is recommended. Not only does it benefit you today, it gives you something to look back on for days/week/months/years to come.

Next, in the morning, before hopping out of bed spend a few minutes thinking about at least 3 things that you are grateful for in your life (business and otherwise).

Positivity breeds more positivity… if you let it!

Then think about what you want to accomplish today!  What specifically do you want to be celebrating tonight, that you created or accomplished today?  This is a way to really empower you to create the day you want to create.  During this quick, self-motivational session make sure to speak positively to yourself.  This is a perfect way to set the right tone for your day and gives you the positive energy to achieve those daily goals and intentions you set in motion.

You know what’s coming now, right? … your homework.  Starting tonight I want you to put these easy tips to good use.  Allow yourself to feed upon the evening and morning motivation and go after the rest of the day with clarity, confidence and tenacity!

Try it and let me know how it goes.  Or if you have a tried and true method for getting motivated each day share that with me below!

Thought Provoking Tuesday: Conquering Your Fears

Conquer Your Fears

Thought Provoking Tuesday is tackling a subject today that many people try to avoid altogether.  I’m talking about FEAR.

I’m a firm believer that our fears are actually great indicators of our true purpose; of what we should be doing more of in our lives.  Are you willing to put yourself out there in order to achieve your dreams?  Taking risks and chances… those are just code names for facing your fears.

Think about one of your fears and the worst possible outcome it could have.  Instead of dwelling on that, accept it for what it is, simply a preconceived idea you’ve created.  It’s not reality or truth.

The more we face our fears head-on and embrace uncomfortable situations in our personal and business lives, the more adaptable and fearless we’re bound to become.  And let’s face it, who doesn’t want to be described as brave?

So now I ask you, what have you been avoiding lately and why?  Today’s a great day to face that fear.  Share it in the comments below and let’s cheer each other on!

To Your Continued and Ever-Growing Success,

P.S.  If you need a little help navigating your way around some of those stubborn fears, let’s schedule a Complimentary Strategy Call and get you feeling confident and bold!

Thought Provoking Tuesday: Unplug Your Way to Better Productivity, Part 1

Unplug for Better productivity

Happy Thought Provoking Tuesday everyone!  This week’s TPT installment is a tad different in that I’m teasing you with some extremely helpful and valuable information that’s coming later this week.

Our focus today is on productivity or the lack there of because of all the digital distractions around us.  We’ve got our phones, iPads, computers, tablets and laptops always within arm’s reach.

We’re always accessible, available and this all seems as though it would add up to us being more productive.  That’s not always the case though, in fact by staying plugged in 24/7 you may just be losing some of your productivity!

So my challenge to you this week is simple.  Tonight after you eat dinner I want you to turn your phone/laptop/tablet off, not just on silent, power the thing down!

Enjoy the time with your family… take advantage of the silence and do a little meditation or prayer session… do anything EXCEPT turn on an electronic device.

Tomorrow, I want you to tell me what you did, how you felt, how you slept, anything about your unplugged session!

On Thursday I’ll have Part Two of this lesson in better productivity and trust me, you won’t want to miss out on this one!

Thought Provoking Tuesday: Living More Purposefully

Welcome back after your long holiday weekend!  I hope it was a fun-filled weekend with friends and family, appreciating the freedoms that have been gifted to us.

Now it’s back to business and a new installment of Thought Provoking Tuesday (TPT).

Live Purposefully

Many times we get caught up in leading a productive life, when striving to live more purposefully would likely bring us a stronger sense of fulfillment.

In order to live more purposefully we must first know what we want to create and then we need to know why we do what we do.

Each and every day we make hundreds of choices, some are simple like, what to wear?  While others are significant, in fact life altering, thought-consuming decisions like, do I quit my job today?

An intentional life is about defining your values, your goals and making choices with our time, attention and resources that are in alignment and clearly reflect those.  This ultimately allows you the freedom to create time for the things that mean the most to you!

We have half of the year left so how are you going to live more intentionally and purposefully the remainder of 2015?

To Your Continued and Ever-Growing Success,

Thought Provoking Tuesday: Failure: A Stepping Stone to Success

Welcome back to TPT or Thought Provoking Tuesday!  Today I want to focus on something we all struggle with at one time or another and that is failure.

The fear of failure causes many to concede and wave the white flag before any effort is even made.

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT do this.  It’s a disservice to you, those you love, those you interact with and those you serve.

Instead, the next time you’re faced with a difficult decision or situation I want you to be reminded of Confucius and his wise words. If you honestly and whole heartedly give it your best and still fail, take it at face value; it was simply a lesson that will propel you in the right direction.

Do your Best

Failure doesn’t have to mean you took a step backwards, instead the lesson learned can become that solid footing you needed to step forward and really advance with your next action.

Now, for the true TPT: When was the last time you found yourself avoiding something out of your fear of failure (perhaps there is something you are avoiding right now)?  I challenge you to share it below and by doing so, you are taking the first step toward conquering that fear.  And if you’re in need of some additional support, I’m always here.

To Your Continued and Ever-Growing Success,

Thought Provoking Tuesday: Dream Big and Own It

Dream Big and Own itTuesday is often the forgotten day of the week… it falls between Monday and Wednesday – otherwise known as “hump day”, so it’s essentially ignored.

Well not anymore.

From now on we will celebrate “Thought Provoking Tuesday” or TPT.  My intention is to inspire, inform and get you thinking.

For our first installment I want to focus on dreams.  We all have them.  Some are achievable; others are pie in the sky aspirations (unless we start strategically thinking and implementing what is necessary to help them come to fruition.  Often times we let other people’s opinions sway us from those dreams causing us to question ourselves or simply put them on an indefinite hold.  Even more damaging is self-doubt.

Today I want you to focus on following your dreams.  Be aware of them, embrace them and most importantly own them.  No matter how big or small, they are yours and yours alone.  Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

I challenge you to own your big dream(s) right here, share it below.

To Your Continued and Ever-Growing Success!
